My name is Justin Heflin, and I am married to my best friend in the world, Miranda! We are a blended family with six kids between us, and we’ve been in Harper for over 12 years now! As I was growing up and receiving my foundational beliefs, I witnessed many miracles, which have greatly built my faith in God! Simply put, man is not capable of the things I’ve seen and felt, GOD IS REAL! Through my own research and reading and personal experiences, I realized that many of the legalistic teachings I was exposed to as a child didn’t line up with the Bible but were manmade regulations and many of these became chains of bondage rather than helpful guidelines. As a non-denominational Christian, we’ll read straight from the word, where yes, there are some absolute statutes and commandments that are black and white, right and wrong instruction (Exodus 20, 1 Corinthians 6:8-11). These things should be taught from love, not condemnation! I also believe in teaching about the leading of the Holy Spirit and how He guides us to know right and wrong and helps us learn how to follow these things and shows us each, through personal conviction, the things we need to improve on! All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:21-26)! He made us individuals; He knows our weaknesses and chooses to love and provide for us despite it all! I am only a sinner, saved by grace, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary… I sin and miss the mark daily… I love God like a father who lays his life down for his children because He understands me and meets me where I am, but He never leaves me there! We are starting New Mercy Fellowship because, While I am a member of Wild Ride Ministries in Harper, a place where all are welcomed as well, I do feel called to also hold services independently, in a more casual format to offer something different to those who might enjoy a less formal atmosphere in a mid-week service! Unfortunately, the organized church in America often turns it’s back on people who don’t fit the Church-shaped mold and/or those who have suffered, made mistakes, caused pain, been mistreated, divorced, have committed crimes, and so on… but I have GOOD NEWS! When Jesus walked the Earth, He chose to surround Himself with just such people! He came with love for every type of human being! We want to foster individual relationships with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit because His way is the ONLY way to a peace that passes all understanding, and if there’s anything the world needs now, it is the TRUE PEACE that can only be found in Him (Philippians 4:7) I believe you can’t have too many people sharing hope, and this will be a more laid-back and less “churchy” place for people of all backgrounds to come together and focus on our shared Faith! We welcome people as they are, and through the study of God’s word, believe that lives and relationships WILL be improved, physical needs will be met, healing will be performed, families restored, faith built and burdens shared and lifted! There will be a time of music and worship at the onset of each meeting, time spent in the Word, and time for personal prayer! Work clothes and casual dress welcome! Feel free to ask questions and don’t be afraid to be you! We all have questions, but God’s Word has answers! Join us in this endeavor to learn and experience the things God has for us in THIS TIME!
